Fresh Hudson Safety Initiative

Each year more than 30 million children participate in organized youth sports, which has become an excellent way  for children to learn valuable skills such as leadership, sportsmanship, and competition. Unfortunately, the rate of sports injuries among youth is a troubling: 3.5 million youth athletes are seen annually in an emergency room for sports related injuries including 5,760 for sudden cardiac arrest and every 3 minutes a youth athlete is seen in an emergency department for sports related head injuries.

A pARTNERship with results

Our partnership with Nicklaus Childrens Hospital Sports Medicine has greatly assisted the Foundations efforts to provide year around programming and information to educate youth, parents/guardians, coaches, and teachers about techniques and essential components of safe play and the importance of good health and wellness. In 2017, the Foundation offered our 1st Annual Football, Cheer and Dance camp where we had several of the athletes attending do a FREE EKG screening and was able to identify 3 cases of possible cardiac issues in participating youth. Because of this we will continue testing all of our campers at our June 16, 2018 camp, we will host our very 1st Health Fair June 15,2018 and we will bring awareness to as many children as we can throughout the year. with our workshops
